I think Kevin Rose started it by censoring his own post as a joke. It has spread widely in just couple of days... His post was "whoa, I just heard that Apple is working on a █████, that can play █████ over █████, insane!"

thanks @jarira, didn't realize that. it's interesting how things like these can spread and the source is often lost .. i just saw a bunch of black boxes in twitter and thought censors have taken over :P
