Poll: digital or paper diary? If digital, public or private? What kind of apps do you use (aside from the usual blogging tools)?

Digital and private. Digital makes it easy to search and backup off-site. Private because you will be more open with yourself and have no reason to hold anything back.

Of course, there is no reason you can't go public as well. Depending on just how personal you feel comfortable revealing.

Sorry, I don't have any app recommendations.

Appointment type diary: Digital & private. Easy to update, alter etc. Using S60 calendar as it does just enough, and is always with me.

Need to look some more at the N900 diary as the multi-diary thing looks interesting (just need to check the sync options!)

Always liked the Jaiku idea of sharing your Free/busy status from you diary appointments, but never shared the title.

Life Event/Dear Diary - Probably also digital. Blogging type thing i guess, never really felt the need to do one.

I sync Lotus Organizer to S60 devices and also doodle in mini-skines.

Oh, my calendar is work-Exchange synced to phone via RoadSync - work related appointments are public (for whole corporation), other private. Diary is A6 Moleskine weekly notebook.

@cybette: By diary do you mean the British use of the word - meaning a calendar of events? Or do you mean the American use of the word, which is a recording of one's activities & thoughts?

If British diary, then I use google calendar and it is set to private. If American diary, then I consider my daily mobile photo blogging to be a 'visual diary', & I occasionally post to a private blog & write in a moleskein notebook.

    ;o)

I would say paper diary- then, you can write all your memories and thoughts freely privately without anyone else to worry about reading them.

Old fashioned paper diary, calender. Plus most appointments in mobile phone. I have Nokia Ovi and chance to sync the calender there, but not using it.

Thanks for all your responses! I was going for the American use of the word, but speaking of calendar of events, I use Exchange synced to phone for work and google calendar set to private for personal.

I have had blogs which I pretty much neglected, now mainly microblogging. Jaiku has been really useful and fun (e.g. tripkus), but I'm thinking of going more private to detail some of the deeper, more personal thoughts and feelings. I've always used paper diaries (although took a break for some years now) so now thinking of exploring some digital options. Although moleskin seems to be still a nice choice.

Been looking at TiddlyWiki suggested by a friend - interesting but not what i need for this. I'm leaning towards Evernote which is flexible enough to include images and other attachments, and has useful search feature, but right now it lacks an S60 client and I'm not sure if I want someone else hosting my private diary...

whoops, mis-understood the question (british english where, unless you are a tween girl, dairy==calendar)

@cybette does the S60 active note's app/tool do the job? Can embed other media, it is effectivley an HTML file, so easu to do stuff to it if you want.

@ymb: oh yes thanks for reminding me about Active notes. if i can find a way to password protect the files and incorporate them easily into Evernote or something... i know Evernote has export to html option but not sure about import from html.

hmm, am i making it too complicated?

I was thinking more that capture of "stuff" now using active note, backed-up onto Ovi files (in case the phone is lost ;). As it is relativley std html, if needed can build a converter later
